The following is a paragraph from our first Newsletter dated Nov.'95

Dear Petanque Friends

Welcome to our first issue of the Cockle Bay Petanque newsletter.

We are very excited about the fact that finally, after playing for nearly a year at the Cockle Bay terrain loosely but regularly, every Wednesday and Sunday, rain or shine, ever since the beginning, we have been able to form ourselves into a club.

Approximately 20 people attended our inaugural meeting on the 11th of October 1995, outside the scout hall, By an overwhelming majority, Buster Emson was elected as Chairman, Peter de Beer as Treasurer, and Rita de Beer as Secretary.  Heather Atkins offered to draw up a distinctive logo for the club and, as we all know, she came up with a beautiful design.
