DownSyndTournament

Page history last edited by PBworks 15 years, 11 months ago

This is part-one of the wine doubles tournament organised by Dave Ciano as a fund raiser for the New Zealand Down Syndrome Association on Nov. 17, 2007 at Cockle Bay Petanque Club. It has the inaugural speeches by the organiers and Manukau Mayor Len Brown (including a Christmas song by Len). I am so impressed with the organisers of this event - they sure know about PR and are web savvy. If this is part one, I look forward to part two. I will also permanently place this clip of just under 10 minutes on our Wiki video page as a permanent and historic record. PS. You may have to turn up your sound to hear the audio better. -Tom.

Well, a couple of hours later; Here's part two of the wine doubles tournament organized by Dave Ciano as a fund raiser for the New Zealand Down Syndrome Association on Nov. 17, 2007 at Cockle Bay Petanque Club.

These are the main competition games, and the "novice" competition. The "wiggles" (a.k.a. Raffle) and presentation of cheques to the Down Syndrome Association. (Runtime 8.12 min.)

"Here's the final part of the wine doubles tournament organized by Dave Ciano as a fund raiser for the New Zealand Down Syndrome Association on Nov. 17, 2007 at Cockle Bay Petanque Club.

These are the "pro players" competing for the first places. Those final games were absolutely amazing to watch." (Runtime 5.52 min.)

I would like to devote a special and permanent Wiki page to this. If David could write a short report about this event, and if we combine the videos permanently with this...., how good would that be!.

The camera person deserves some credit big time!!! (I want to move to Cockle Bay). This is the first time New Zealand made Petanque videos have appeared on the world famous YouTube web site - fantastic!!!.

Yep, I have placed the third one on the page as well. We have all been watching various YouTube petanque videos, but if you actually know the people in it, this adds a whole new dimension. What a fantastic way of encapsulating and preserving an entire event. Because it is web based we can all enjoy it.

To all of those who supported this worthy cause.

The Petanque Tournament at Cockle Bay on Saturday 17th November 2007 has raised $2325.00 to date.

A Bean Bag covered with the signatures of over a hundred New Zealand Sports Men and Women plus the Large Bottle of Wine donated by Simon Faby is presently on Trade Me.

Thanks again for your part in making this such a successful day.

Regards Warren Barrett

President Cockle Bay Petanque Club
