More stuff

What follows is an email from Joanne to a large email group with CC to our CEO Bryan Wells.

It also shows (further down this page) that our CEO is happy to join the fray in this group email. I leave it to the reader to decide if this is the kind of behaviour one would expect from our CEO Bryan Wells.

It begins with my (Tom) reply to the email.

Tom van Bodegraven (Editor NZPC).

A letter from Joanne Evans

An email from Dirk Winnie

A Thought From Andy Gilbert

This is my reply to the email below:

Dear all,

I only received the first one. It is from Dirk Winnie. I received this as a private email this morning. It was not submitted as a comment to any of the postings on our NZPC Blog.

The other text I have not seen before (until now of course).

As you can all see from the Blog this morning, I have no problem with allowing Joanne’s letter ("A letter from Joanne Evans" - see further down this page) in which she challenges me to put it up on the Blog. Please also note that this letter from her was not sent to me - I received it through a third party (luckily) .

May I also point out to this rather large email group that digital text in itself is not prove of anything.

Some people here are playing dirty games. Not the Kiwi way, I am sure we all agree.

Cheers, Tom.

Now Tom,

You know that is not true. I have a print out of my posting, including times from yesterday.

I also sent it to you via email along with a number of other people at 11.36 today. Did you not receive that also???

This message from Dirk was also sent to you and CC’d to others. Did you not receive this either.. both sent before my email today

Now I really must do some work

Tom,

You can no longer make the claim that you have published all named comments. It's ok for you to call someone a lapdog and that their arguments are judged by you to be stupid, but you can't accept criticism of your moderation role. As you know you are the only person who knows what you publish and why.

I know that my comments, with a name have not been published, and so do you.

What is it they say about absolute power.

Now off you run and have another go at me publicly on your web site, akin to cyber bullying

Regards

Dirk

Please note that the above text by Dirk Winnie is from an email to me, NOT a comment on any posting within our Blog - as stated by Joanne. I did indeed receive this email from Dirk, and replied within two hours of receiving it (not sure how Joanne got hold of it).

Tom,

I have posted on the wiki (Editors note: David means Blog, not Wiki) with my name and you have not published it. So to say that all postings with a name will be published is utter rubbish and an outright lie. The fact that this has been raised and you are “approving” everything for publishing begs the question:

Can you be trusted?

I think you are trying to dictate and you don’t like being questioned. You are capable of dishing the dirt, but you are not able to receive it. If you can’t stand the heat get out of the kitchen.

I note from Georgio’s “thank you” e mail that your name was included on a list of people that promised to sponsor him for Singapore. I received the account details the other day so that I could send out thank you letters and note that your name did not appear?

What does this mean Tom?

DAVID LIPPARD

I did honour my promise to Georgio. I posted a cheque for $50.00 as a private donation to Georgio for his Singapore campaign (posted 07/08 cashed 13/08).

Our NZPC Blog also collected $NZD28.40 through a Web based payment facility for our Worlds team (posted to PNZ 31/08 cashed by PNZ 04/09).

Tom,

Some time ago I was an advocate of your site, believing it provided a forum for a few to vent their frustrations. Readers were able to see common feelings emerge from which proposals back to PNZ (selection was one example) could be lodged et al.

I have not taken an active part in debate on your site because in my opinion you do not allow the debate to evolve and you do not maintain a balance. You don’t actually contribute to debate you simply publish criticism and end it with a lot of meaningless questions.

I think that David is making a reference to the 4th player questions on this PAGE. -Tom.
This view I hold is shared by others; indeed it was suggested that you refrain from a debate in the past and I think I am right in saying it received a record number of hits.
I think David makes a reference to an email from Trevor Neilson. It is interesting to note that this time I have simply published a barrage of personal attack on me without entering the debate. Staying silent has not resulted in others participating this time. Conclusion: this theory does not always hold. -Tom.

Your anti establishment stance has clouded your judgement many times but none more than recently which is why I now find myself writing this. At first I sent you text which was tongue in cheek and quite frankly a joke. You seem to have lost any ability to share a sense of humour and pass something off as such. You have less than truthful on the web, you have changed rules to suit yourself and you are now dictating what people can and can’t read. Generally you don’t publish that which you don’t agree with or if it challenges your view. You have demonstrated a lack of the very values that you complain PNZ don’t possess, honesty, transparency and integrity.

Lots of generalisations and allegations but without providing any proof or examples. Criticism has to have substance rather than just finger wagging -Tom.
I have not always agreed with decisions PNZ has made, but I accept that they are the governance that the members elect (or whatever the process is). I also accept that my view is only one of 1400 or so. I also accept that those working on moving our sport forward in PNZ get it wrong sometimes. BUT I do see a lot of good work also. When I haven’t been happy with the direction I have offered my help and generally I have been happy with the outcome. This is were you and I am opposed! You offer nothing more than mischief and noise.

If you really want to make a difference you should hold up your hand or just plain shut up.

In my opinion your site has deteriorated into a source of amusement to fill your day, and take cheap pops at other people from the safety of your desk. I don’t see a man who has the same courage of his convictions when he is confronted though. When I see you at a tournament you are like a mouse.

I don’t see what value you add Tom so perhaps its time for reflection. A renaming of your site to something like “Toms agony aunts column” would be the first step of improvement.

My guess is that you will put pen to paper and try and justify your actions, rally the support of 11 people and for what? The other 1389 don’t care. Your site has passed its expiry date, find something else to do.

Instead of finishing with strong points to back up his view, David resorts to ridicule. -Tom.

Kind Regards,

DAVID LIPPARD

Joanne,

Wow! Whoever shook this tree has done the petanque scene in NZ a great service!! It is about time this blog was seen for what it is – an anti establishment vehicle for a few disaffected players. We do however have to see this in perspective. Here are less than a dozen people scratching each other’s negative backs, whilst the rest of the 1400 registered players in the PNZ get on with playing their sport – and don’t give a rat’s a---- if Tom feels aggrieved about his piddling little problems.

I believe Tom makes his outrageous statements simply to get some reaction from the wider petanque scene, so that he can fill his day. The best thing I can do is to ignore them, and he will eventually give up and open another blog dedicated to the re-election of Margaret Thatcher!! It is a pity that he has taken the blog this way. There is a place for a blog site in the communication scheme of things. As it stands though I would not contribute to this one at any cost!

Bryan Wells.

This is a nasty and cowardly attack on me as an individual conducted within a group of email recipients:

I wonder how the people in this email-group feel about being included and associated with this personal attack on me. At least Myles has clearly disassociated himself from it. How many other nasty emails (personal attacks on people) are being circulated within cliquey email groups ?. -Tom van B.

A letter from Joanne Evans

Dear All,

My one and only missive to the blog, since my mad snake comment is attached, for those who are interested...

My name is attached and Tom clearly states: I say it again: no post or comment with a verifiable name has ever been refused or altered.

My posting was sent to Tom yesterday at 3pm before two other postings went up, so why isn't it posted. Tom tells lies and he should resign as blog master, for those who are interested....

Best Regards

Joanne Evans

What follows now is the text from a Microsoft Word document created by Joanne Evans on Sep. 7, at 11:01AM. This MS Word document was sent as an attachment to an email group. I was not included in this email group. I received the MS Word document via email from a third party the same morning at 11:51AM. I have no problem with putting the text from Joannes's document up on our Blog.

NZPC Editor (Tom)

Tom,

I cannot believe that you would accuse me of being involved in the so called spamming of your blog site. Clearly this is the behaviour of silly little boys, playing in their sand pit and generally being a nuisance.

Tom, you have committed the ultimate sin- you have bitten the bait, just lighten up and rise above them and ignore them. You concentrate on what you do best, providing an informative and intelligently constructed debating blog site. Perhaps you could run a competition called “guess the names of the 11 people who actually requested a copy of the ‘spam’ email” (or was this your attempt at reciprocal wind up – not bad, not bad Tom). I reckon 95% of the Pétanque community would guess correctly.

Now ‘spammers’ and their accomplices behave and play nicely. Run along and do some work and leave Tommy Tutes alone. I don’t want to have to tell you again. We don’t want any more mad animals in the Pétanque kingdom.

Tom and his disciples, look on the bright side. At least this non-sensical, non Pétanque related and frivolous irrelevancy has received a fair number of responses which clearly demonstrates this topic is appropriate for the target audience. Good market research ‘spammers’

A couple of notes of clarity Tom; firstly, I always sign my name. Secondly I wouldn’t waste my time with pathetic, silly cryptic messages with the sole intention of winding up the blog master. My message would be crystal clear, exact and would hit you right between the eyes, Kupow!!

Now everyone lets rejoice together. It is a lovely day the sun is shining and most of us are healthy and well. Those who aren’t will hopefully seek appropriate help and before the start of the season. And remember Tommy, Tutes, even in the darkest spam moments Jesus loves us. Fat, thin, black, white, ugly or beautiful, even stupid, he shows no distinction in his love and presence.

Tom I challenge your conviction to being a man of his word and dare you to publish this missive in its entirety. Publish and be dammed !

But of course you won’t because this missive does not align to your propaganda, does it Chairman Tom.

Joanne

This letter from Joanne (PNZ PR and Sponsorship Director) speaks for itself. It's a personal attack on me and resorts to ridicule. It is similar to this contribution from Andy Gilbert (PNZ Umpiring Director). -Tom.
