PNZ Remits 2008

08/04/ 2008 The updated Notice for the AGM has been circulated to all clubs (see WPA website and click on the hyper link "Notice" or see further down this page). I had a read of the remits. I believe Michael Rocks should be supported in this because his remits point to the crux of the current problems. The remits are all actions the executive should have undertaken in the course of the last 6 months, or which the council asked the executive to undertake. What we have is a rebellious executive who think they can dictate to and control the council. -Tom.

 

Remits 4 – 30 from Michael Rocks

 

Remit 4

That the PNZ Executive advertises for a Manager for the 2008 Women’s World Championship team by 25 April.

 

Remit 5

That PNZ maintain two lists of eligible players for National Representation. List A covers Open events and List B covers Women only events.

 

a) List A qualification is a top 16 placing in one of the last four National Championships. The applicable National Championships are: Singles, Doubles and Triples.

b) List B qualification is a top 16 placing in one of the last four National Championships or a top 16 placing in the National Women’s Triples.

 

Remit 6

That PNZ confirm the representative process for 2008-09.

 

A self-selected, team based system will be used, with qualifying tournaments to determine international representative teams on an event-by-event basis.

 

Players will form their own teams to enter the relevant qualifying tournament. The format of the tournament will depend on the nature of the event being selected for, and the number of applicants.

 

Eligibility criteria will be:

• Each team member must have finished in the top 16 in at least one of the 4 preceding National Championships

• Each team member must be a PNZ member

• Each team member must be a New Zealand resident or citizen

• Each team member must comply with any tournament criteria (e.g., age, gender)

 

Remit 7

International Representation qualifying tournaments

• That PNZ advertise for prospective Triples teams to compete in the 2008 World Championship by 25 April with a closing date of 15 May

• That PNZ advertise for prospective Triples teams to compete in the 2008 Singapore International Championship by 25 April with a closing date of 15 May

• That PNZ advertise for prospective Triples teams to compete in the 2008 Asian Championship by 25 April with a closing date of 15 May

 

Remit 8

Review of the National Representation qualification process

 

• That the PNZ Executive publicise that the review will be conducted in November 2009.

• That the PNZ Executive contact SPARC for help in undertaking the review of the National Representation qualification process

 

Remit 9

Administrator

• That the PNZ Executive make contact with SPARC regarding assistance to fund a part-time administrator

• That the PNZ Executive make contact with NZCT regarding the process to obtain funding for a part-time administrator

 

Remit 10

That the PNZ Executive extend an invitation to Mike Pegg, Internal Arbiter (England) to run a series of umpiring courses in New Zealand during 2008-09

 

Remit 11

That the PNZ Executive extend an invitation to Jean-Yves Peronnet (France) to run a Level 1 CIEP course for coaches in New Zealand during 2008-09

 

Remit 12

That the PNZ Executive make contact with Paul Ackerley (SPARC) regarding the creation of a National Coaching Framework

 

Remit 13

That the PNZ setup a Financial Planning sub-committee of no more than 3 persons and advertise the positions. In the event that no PNZ member is available to become part of this subcommittee, then the CEO will contact the PNZ Auditor to recommend a suitable organisation to assist.

 

Remit 14

That the PNZ Executive makes contact with SPARC and investigates the feasibility of becoming a Push-Play participating sport.

 

Remit 15

That the PNZ Executive investigates staging a bi-annual National Club Conference to develop capability within clubs and regions.

 

Remit 16

That the PNZ Executive advertises the position of Deputy CEO (Operations Manager) by 15 May.

 

Remit 17

That the PNZ extend a formal invitation to the President and one other official from Petanque Australia to come to New Zealand to begin talks on closer cooperation.

 

Remit 18

That the PNZ Executive recruit a French-speaking member to make contact with the Oceania Federation with the aim of taking a lead in strengthening this body.

 

Remit 19

That the PNZ send an official delegate to the 2008 Asian Federation Annual General Meeting.

 

Remit 20

That the PNZ Executive makes contact with the Ministry of Education regarding the creation of suitable series of modules for having petanque taught in schools.

 

Remit 21

That the PNZ Executive makes contact with SPARC regarding the development and adoption of a Coach’s Code of Ethics.

 

Remit 22

That PNZ establish a series of awards to recognise and celebrate success. Examples are: Player of the Year; Team of the Year; Administrator of the Year; Coach of the Year; Volunteer of the Year.

 

Remit 23

That PNZ formally recognise the umpiring qualifications of those members that sat the exams organised by Terry Holt prior to 2007.

 

Remit 24

That the PNZ Council meetings are held in turn in each of the regions and that a half-day on the Saturday is open to interested members.

 

Remit 25

That the advertised Coaching course be held in the South Island within the next three months.

 

Remit 26

That a practical Umpiring training session be held in the South Island within the next three months.

 

Remit 27

Playing season

• That the petanque playing season be defined as October to April (inclusive).

• That the PNZ investigate changing its operating year to reflect that the playing season straddles two calendar years.

 

Remit 28

Umpires

• That PNZ issue certificates to those members who have passed their umpiring qualification.

• That an umpire uniform (shirt/hat/badge) be developed so that players may recognise the umpire

 

Remit 29

That the PNZ Executive makes contact with the NZ Community Trust and the Southern Trust regarding what support/help they can offer, outside of representative grants.

 

Remit 30

That PNZ run training courses for Tournament Directors in each of the regions by September 2008.
