Know your Piste competition
21/04/06 Dave Ciano has kindly provided this competition including photos, and a bottle of NZ Chardonnay for the winner. A bottle of reasonable quality wine (around $17.00) will be couriered to the winner. Please note if you are from outside New Zealand you can still participate, but you will have to come over to collect your bottle if you win. Please note, you do not need to give 6 correct answers - just try for as many as you can.
The question is simple:
Name as many of these locations as you can: (see below).
Email (no longer active) your answers to Dave Ciano. |
All entries with the highest number of of correct piste location names will go into the hat. Dave will let us know on the 21st of May at the bottom of this page the name of the winner. Entries close 20/05/06. Good luck.

Dear Debbie
Just to let you know that a firm called Francis-Cole should deliver to you a bottle of their finest '04 Chardonnay in the next few days.
Kind regards, Dave C.
Well, I must say I am puzzled by the fact that so few people have entered our competitions. We have had two competitions so far, and with the last one (organised by Dave Ciano) we only had one entry (there were 4 others, but these people were family of Dave Ciano). A couple of observations: This Wiki is getting a lot of visitors - at least 50 per day. The value of the two prizes are around $17.00 each. This could be the problem – it is possible that people just can’t be bothered if they can only win a small prize – PNZ magazine subscription, and this time a bottle of wine. There is a good possibility that visitors are not aware we are running a competition. I also realise that apart from Rotorua, all the other terrains were in the Auckland region, and some of you may not have been happy about this. Nevertheless, this is a region with a high density of players – so this does not explain the low entries either.
Even a recent news item about
Aucklanders being miserable people, surly has nothing to do with it: “....some of us south of the Bombay Hills may have suspected it all along, but it is now a world-recognised phenomenon –
Aucklanders are a lonely and miserable lot”.
Also, this last competition did not require the use of our Wiki password – just a click on an email link to David, was all that was needed. Mysteries, I just love them. We will have to go back to the proverbial drawing board to see what is happening, before we get our next one up and running. If you have any ideas or suggestions as to why we have such a low participation rate I would love to hear from you. -Tom.
PS. Thanks Dave for setting up the quiz and providing the prize!
