Tournament Draw

The drawing of team numbers for the 2006 Peugeot National Doubles Championships

will be done at 6.00pm on Friday evening, 10th November, at the Christchurch

Clubrooms. It will be the same format as at the National Triples:

• A member from each team will draw their team number from a “hat”.

• For teams who do not have a member present, an independent person will do the

draw.

Meeting with PNZ Representatives

Following the draw, as several PNZ Executive and Council members will be in

Christchurch for the Championships, we thought it would be a good opportunity for us to

get together with members to discuss concerns, raise issues, ask questions and

generally put forward any thoughts and ideas you might have about petanque in New

Zealand.

The meeting is intended to be an ongoing feature of National Tournaments (as there is

always likely to be at least one if not several Executive/Council members at these

events).

We hope that the meeting will be as much a discussion between members as a

“question and answer” session with the Executive.

We don’t guarantee to be able to answer all queries on the spot, but will make sure that

they are directed to the appropriate person for response. Similarly there will be no

decisions made at the meeting, but issues raised or suggestions made will be taken

back to the full Council (or Executive as appropriate) for action.

Umpire

I will be chairing the meeting in my role as PNZ Secretary, but am also happy to put on

my “umpire’s hat” and try to answer any questions you may have about rule

interpretation, if there’s anything you’d like to be clear about before the tournament

starts. Again, if I can’t provide an answer straight away (I’m learning all the time too!), I

will take your contact details and get back to you with an answer as soon as possible.
