National selection proposal

This is a permanent record of a MPC Blog posting

Please read the proposal on this page and provide input by leaving a comment. The proposal has been up since July 26 and so far only one person has made a comment. The proposal is: “That the current National Selection Policy for national representative teams be replaced by a proposed National Qualification Policy".

- Tom.

Come on people!! We need to get behind this proposal and get some changes happening.

Its not enough to carp from the sidelines about how unfair things are - and then not show obvious support for something such as this. I asked at the last WPA meeting for clubs to download and discuss this document at the next WPA meeting to be held in October, ahead of the PNZ exec meeting in November.

So if we want to see change in the selection processes, make the effort and get your club behind the proposal. -Margret

Totally and utterly agree with Margret. It should not be hard to say what you think. It is no good standing on the sideline and let others do the work - you must chip in if we are going to turn things towards a more positive and inclusive direction. Enough of my "fire and brimstone" sermon. Whatever you think, please do not think: "I am alright Jack, it does not effect me."

This issue also applies to senior players who wish to put themselves forward for representation.

There are a number of senior players who felt overlooked for the recent Trans-Tasman (even though they had good tournament results), who will benefit from a change to the current system. So its not a matter that is limited to the "younger" competitive players - it affects everyone, as Tom has rightly pointed out. -Margret.
