The Annual All Schools Tournament

Will be held on Friday the 27th of March 2009 at Herne Bay Auckland

18 Schools have now entered, which means 59 teams of triples.

Many of the Auckland secondary schools take part is this annual event, I've heard that even some primary schools have enrolled to take part for the first time this year.

A request from Warren: He could do with a few more helpers on the day.

Ph. 273 3106 or e mail him at warrenbarrett@xtra.co.nz  much appreciated.

As you can imagine this is going to be a full on day for anyone involved.

Today 9/3/09.

The Cockle Bay Petanque Club hosted 40 students from Sancta Maria College from Botany South (East Auckland) for an afternoon game of petanque.

The reason being the college has for the past two week been host to a group of 20 exchange students and their teachers from a small village north of Paris.  They have been billeted with the family of students from the school and today the parents and students finished their visit with a game of petanque a barbeque and possibly a swim at the beach.

In return some students (who take french as a subject) from Sancta Maria College will pay them a return visit in a couple of weeks time during their holidays to experience spring in Europe and France and improve their lanquage skills at the same time.

We played 2 games, 14 teams of triples, some students showed great skill.

I have taken some pictures of the afternoon but unfortenatly did not ask for their names, so I do not know if the winning team was French or New Zealand, either way they seemed to have enjoyed themselves.

It’s always more satisfying when you figure something out yourself – well done and keep up the good work you do on this Wiki.
