Email from Trevor Neilson:

Trevor Nielson did not write the proposal. Trevor Neilson with a number of other players put there thoughts on paper one night and decided to use it as a discussion document. Other people asked for the document so that a pool of ideas could be formed by a larger group. With this as a basis we asked for input, changes to be made, we know it is not the end product.

If we started up with a proposal similar to Michael Emerson's and didn't acknowledge it, it was most probably because we hadn't read his. It shows how like minds end up with a very similar starting point.

We are not asking for anybody to accept it, we didn't ask for it to be put on this Wiki, we are Petanque members trying to contribute in a positive way to an issue that is destroying not only our game but our membership.

Perhaps if more players got together and offered their thoughts in a constructive way by discussing, preparing and presenting proposals and get their Regional representatives to offer solutions to the problem at the next PNZ meeting then perhaps PNZ will have more information to prepare a new selection policy as they are not going to accept Michael Emerson's or our proposal in it's full entirety. It's about everybody contributing through the PNZ processes that are available.

Tom, could I make a suggestion, in order for this Wiki to receive constructive comments from lots more people perhaps you should encourage debate by not adding your comments to everything everybody contributes. Surely this would help this site to become more acceptable to more people knowing they aren't going to be castigated every time they want to add something positive. This section has now ended up in a who said what when. All that is irrelevant. The question is "What is the best way to find teams to represent New Zealand?"

Why don't you write up a proposal containing all the positive aspects of selection from the survey results, Michael's and our proposal regardless of who made them so then anybody could add there ideas of what may or may not work and offer a solution. There are still heaps of selection issues that haven't been answered.

Trevor Neilson

Trevor you are right about me writing too much. I apologise to all who feel intimidated by my personal opinions. It has never been my intention to stifle debate. -Tom.
