I received four emails (one last night and three this morning) and all are the same forwarded corespondents about a "fourth player" which was emailed to clubs and some individuals. No intro text was provided by the four senders apart from FYI. The corespondents is basically about the fourth player in the Nat triples. All names have been removed to protect the identity of the individuals involved.

It should be read from the bottom up. -Tom.

Hi all

I have now re-read the entry form and under Tournament Rules (a) it states that the tournament will be played under FIPJP rules as adopted by PNZ. This is not the same as World Championship rules which do allow four player teams. World Championship rules do not apply to this tournament. This means that this tournament does not allow for four player teams. It would be going against the FIPJP rules you clearly state you have adopted and under which this tournament will be played.

Dear Mr xxxx (I don't think we have ever met so I don't feel comfortable using your christian name)

I do have to disagree with your statement that "PNZ has to abide by them". I think you will find that PNZ might have made a decision at a meeting to allow four person teams at the National Triples. I am sure someone will correct me if I am wrong but I feel pretty sure it has nothing to do with FIPJP rules.

While FIPJP may well allow four player teams in International Tournaments, it does not mean that we automatically adopt that option.

It would be a great pity if this turned into a slanging match and I don't think your reply to xxxx does you much credit. You have  acknowledged she has strong feelings about the matter but you have not allowed her to have them, rather you have then indulged in a very petulant reply.

Can we please have a reply from our Chairperson of PNZ to show the leadership our sport deserves.

Yours sincerely xxxx xxxx

Hi xxxx,
Thank you for your sweet email. It gave me a good laugh this morning, I do love people with a good sense of humour.
Feedback is always welcome. I am sorry that you do not agree with the F.I.P.J.P rules on the use of substitutes in triples teams, but PNZ has to abide by them. New Zealand has been sending four person teams to the world championships since 2003, so it's nothing new. As you obviously have strong feelings on the subject, may I suggest that you come to the PNZ annual general meeting next month at Herne Bay and put your hand up for the Tournament Director's position.
Regards,

xxxx.

Hi, Petanque People
Attached is the entry form and rules for the National Triples Championships to be held in Auckland at Herne Bay Club on 2, 3 & 4 April.
You will see on the entry form that 4 player teams will be accepted for this championship. This is in line with a decision last year by the PNZ Board and is covered by FIPJP international rules. There will be an extra cost for your 4th player if you choose to submit a team of 4.
As you will see there will be a Mens and Ladies Shooting Championship starting at 2pm on Friday, entries will be accepted until 3pm.
This championship is open to participating triples teams only at no cost, see separate entry form.
Please let your club members know the details as soon as possible. I look forward to seeing you at the tournament.
Kind regards

xxxx xxxx
